MULE CREEK TREK

VERY EASY HIKE FOR SMALL KIDS. If you have little people 3 years old and up then this is the hike for you. It starts at the end of forest road 33 at Canyon Creek camp ground. It follows an old logging road to Mule spring. The n continues on to the reservation line, were, you should turn back if you brought little ones.

However if you have with you some uncontrollable teenagers then you might want to use the second leg of this trek to ware them down a bit, sort of take some fire out of their britches.

It's a very interesting hike straight north along the reservation fence to the bottom of the cliffs and into a canyon with a cool cave.

If you have down loaded our trek into your GPS then you wont have any trouble finding the cave. Early mornings are the best time to see critters on this hike because the Elk like to hang out in the huge meadows all night then sort of filter out just after first light.

See, its light and no Elk !!!

To get there from Payson go east on 260 past Christopher Creek to the top of the rim. Go about 3 more miles and turn right on the Young road (F.R.512). South on the Young road 3 miles and turn left on F.R. 33. Follow 33 for 5 miles and go past the fish hatchery and past Canyon Creek campground to the steel gate. Park there. Please bring out any bits of trash you find.
